15 smart tips for curly hair



A sagging bunch of curls or a frizzy haircut with a risk of explosion: curly hair simply has instructions for use. But no worries , it's simply a matter of what tricks you need to know. With these tips & tricks you can keep your locks in top condition from now on.

1. Determine the type of curls you have. Step one, and also a crucial one on the way to a better curling situation. You can find the different types and how you can best treat them here .

2. Find a good hairdresser! And get a hairstyle that matches your hair texture and that fits well without having to blow-dry or straighten it first (a good stylist can do this). Saves a lot of time.

3. Dry your hair with a towel (the best is one made of microfibre) that you wrap around your head (don't rub!). If you still want to blow-dry, keep your head down and blow-dry until it is approximately 80 percent dry.

4. Use products specifically for curls , and use them in the right way. Maybe an open door, but doing a little market research won't hurt, so you will eventually find the products that work best for you.

5. Prefer longer hair? Remember: the more curly, the more it shrinks. The best growth tips: use conditioner regularly, massage your skull, eat healthy food (asparagus, broccoli, melon and mango do a lot of good) or take supplements and avoid heat styling tools as much as possible.



6. Take a deep conditioning treatment for coloring. Hair coloring is of course not good for your hair, a nourishing treatment (at the hairdresser) helps to limit the damage.

7. Use dry shampoo instead of a wash. Washing makes dryer, so use a shampoo spray for the second and third day. This way you let the natural oils on your scalp do their magic.

8. Or go no-poo . For a while a trend in beauty land: wash your hair instead of shampoo with a cleansing conditioner. This leaves the natural oils of your hair and scalp intact.

9. Use your fingers to create more body. Massage your scalp in small circles to get volume without confusing your hair.

10. Use coconut oil. Extremely dry hair? Coconut oil to the rescue ! Massage half a tablespoon into your hair, wrap it in a towel and leave for 45 minutes. Rinse well and tadaa: silky locks!

11. Invest in a good conditioner. Hydration is a must and a weekly deep conditioning mask is certainly not an unnecessary luxury.

12. Use care products on damp hair , so you can distribute it better and the hair absorbs it better.

13. Stay away from brushes. We repeat: stay away from brushes. Brushing will only break your hair. You can detangle with a wide comb through damp hair.

15. Sleep on a satin pillowcase. If it doesn't work, it won't harm, non ?
